The Acting Director, Higher Education in the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Mr James Muchunguzi, challenged DSE to enhance public awareness on capital markets by increasing the number of students from higher learning institutions taking part in the DSE Scholar Investment Challenge. He said capital markets provide affordable sources of capital that could be channeled to new investments.
“There are more than 200,000 students at higher learning institutions, thus with the DSE Scholar Investment Challenge, more people may be reached and take active role in accruing immense benefits of the equity markets,” he said.
The DSE Chief Executive Officer, Mr Moremi Marwa, said comparatively with the previous year, 50 per cent of the students who took part in the 2016 DSE Scholar Investment Challenge were from higher learning institutions outside Dar es Salaam.
He said DSE could be crucial source of capital needed for investing on the industrialisation drive thus supporting the efforts and initiative prioritized by the fifth phase government.
